The alarm sounds when the hook and loop is released to the blue area on the belt. At that point there is still approximately 12" (30 cm) of hook and loop remaining for safety and to allow staff additional time to attend to the patient. Foam pads on the belt provide extra comfort and protection. The belt fully extended measures 55 in (140 cm) from end to end.
